Autour du fleuve - A documentary series by Justin Vaillancourt

This is the first series of a project we're launching for the first time, the St-Lawrence Reporters. Justin embarked with us in September 2023 for Broad Reach Canada's fifth Ships2Shores trip. Let him introduce himself!

"As a 20-year-old journalism student, I have an interest in audiovisual production, the arts and, of course, the St. Lawrence River. I chose to get involved with ÉcoMaris because I felt challenged by the organization's mission. Enabling so many people to reconnect with water, the river and nature is a wonderful thing, and one that I strongly support. Ever since I was very young, I've found the river majestic and inspiring, and I feel extremely blessed to have been able to use it as a creative venue."

Through five different themes, "Around the River" presents how the St. Lawrence River has brought together nearly twenty people who didn't know each other before. The series uses the natural development of events to tell the story of this gathering, and also features segments of poetry composed by the expedition's participants. The whole thing is quite sober, aiming simply to represent reality, which is often far more touching than fiction.
